According to Bild, Julian Brandt is now interested in a move to the Premier League, after Arsenal tried – and failed – to sign him in 2021.

What’s the story?

Well, the Gunners tried to sign the Germany international last year, with Bernd Leno even texting his fellow countryman about the rumours.

Unfortunately, a move to the Premier League failed to materialise for Brandt, and Arsenal eventually turned their attention to Martin Ødegaard.

Now, however, it seems Mikel Arteta and Edu would have more luck if they made another move for the 25-year-old, who is planning to leave Borussia Dortmund.

Bild believe Brant is ‘plotting an escape’ from the Signal Iduna Park, and has his eyes on a move to England’s top-flight.

The German news outlet add that the former Bayer Leverkusen maestro – who has been likened to Mesut Özil – even hired a consultant to help him find a new club.

Bild add that Brandt’s father is also sounding out the market.

Arsenal should ignore Julian Brandt

In our view, Arsenal should not consider another move for Brandt, despite the fact he’s now keen on a move to the Premier League.

The Gunners filled that gap with Ødegaard, and they have no urgent need for another attacking midfielder in their squad.

Having said that, Brandt is a quality player, and we’re sure Arteta would find a way to use him.

So far this season, the Borussia Dortmund No.19 has scored seven goals in 37 appearances, while also providing ten assists.

It speaks volumes that Jürgen Klopp also wanted to bring him to Liverpool back in 2017, before he was convinced to sign Mohamed Salah instead.

However, the lack of quality, and options, in the centre-forward department at Arsenal is alarming, and that needs to be amended before any other areas are strengthened.

Nevertheless, keep an eye on this situation, in case Arsenal decide to resurrect their interest following Bild‘s news.
