According to BILD, Arsenal have turned their attentions to Julian Brandt after it became apparent that Martin Ødegaard was too expensive.
The Germans news outlet claim that the Norwegian is definitely out of Arsenal’s reach, so they’re searching for alternatives.
BILD state that Arsenal will ‘bring out the old plans’ from January, in reference to their interest in Brandt during the winter window.
It is said that the 35-cap Germany international will cost €25 million (£21.8 million), which is far less than what Real Madrid want for Ødegaard.
Diario Gol claim that Real Madrid are asking for €80 million (£69.8 million) to turn Ødegaard’s loan move into a permanent deal.
While missing out on him might upset some Arsenal fans, Brandt wouldn’t be a bad alternative.

The 24-year-old is a brilliant playmaker, so much so that Jürgen Klopp wanted him at Liverpool in 2017, only to sign Mohamed Salah instead.
That was according to the Liverpool Echo.
Brandt hasn’t enjoyed the best season with Borussia Dortmund, scoring just three goals in 40 appearances.

He’s also recorded two assists, for what it’s worth.
However, this must be remembered. Form is temporary, class is permanent.
For just £21.8 million, he would be a shrewd capture who has the skillset to mirror what Ødegaard has been doing at the Emirates Stadium.
