Pedrinho has agreed a move to a European club in the summer transfer window after his agent confirmed Wolves’ interest in bringing the £18 million Shakhtar Donetsk ace to the Premier League, according to Globo Esporte.

David Moyes may be feeling a little put-out this morning.

Because, if the Premier League had not refused to let players based in Ukraine and Russia move to England on short-term deals until the end of the campaign, Tete might have been wearing claret-and-blue on Thursday night.

Instead, he came off the bench for Lyon – against one of his many other suitors – before setting up Tanguy Ndombele’s equaliser during Thursday’s 1-1 Europa League quarter-final draw at the London Stadium.

Will Wolves reunite Bruno Lage with Pedrinho?

Tete, who also held talks with Southampton, was not the only Shakhtar star denied a move to the Premier League last month either.

“Will Dantas, Pedrinho’s agent, made it very clear that Pedrinho’s intention is to play in the Premier League,” explains Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola.

“According to Dantas, Pedrinho has not closed (an agreement) with a team there because of the Premier League’s restrictions. There was an advanced conversation between Pedrinho and Wolverhampton Wanderers.”

Pedrinho, an £18 million attacking midfielder, worked with Wolves boss Bruno Lage at Benfica for a short spell two years ago.

The admiration between player and manager was certainly mutual. Pedrinho described Lage as ‘an intelligent coach’ during their time together at the Estadio da Luz.

The twinkle-toed 23-year-old will have to wait until the summer to escape war-torn Ukraine, however. Though Globo Esporte claim that he’s already agreed a move to a mystery European outfit.

It remains to be seen whether Wolves are the club in question.

Given that the team in Old Gold have scored just 33 goals in 31 Premier League games – despite flying high just outside the European places – Pedrinho is a signing that would be welcomed with open arms at Molineux.
