Bruno Lage’s Wolverhampton Wanderers were in ‘advanced’ talks to sign Shakhtar Donetsk ace Pedrinho before the Premier League blocked his move to Molineux, the Brazilian’s agent tells Jorge Nicola.
On Thursday, Brazil U23 international Tete put pen to paper with Lyon after Southampton were denied the chance to bring the quicksilver forward to St Mary’s.
Tete is not the first Shakhtar player to see a potential move to England go up in smoke either.
According to Goal, Wolves were looking to bring Pedrinho to the Black Country. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder is desperate to leave Ukraine as the conflict with Russia rages on.

A move to Molineux would have seen Pedrinho reunite with Bruno Lage, who’s Benfica side paid £18 million to sign him from Corinthians two years ago.
Will Wolves return for Pedrinho?
But with the Premier League deciding against allowing players based in Russia or Ukraine to move to England outside of the transfer window, Wolves have been forced to place Pedrinho on the backburner.
Until the summer, at least.
“(Brazilian giants) Corinthians talked to Will Dantas, Pedrinho’s agent. And he made it very clear that Pedrinho’s intention is to play in the Premier League,” explains Nicola.
“According to Dantas, Pedrinho has not closed (an agreement) with a team there because of the Premier League’s restrictions. There was an advanced conversation between Pedrinho and Wolverhampton.”

Lyon signed Tete on a short-term deal until the end of the season after the Ligue 1 chiefs decided against following in the Premier League’s footsteps.
Tete, who was also a target for Everton, Leicester City and West Ham United, had his contract at Shakhtar torn up this week. He’s joined Les Gones on a free transfer.
It remains to be seen whether Wolves return for Pedrinho in the summer. By then, the task securing the forward’s signature should, in theory, be a a lot more straightforward.
