Newcastle United are keen to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool on loan, the Northern Echo suggest.
Origi to Newcastle?
Newcastle are heading into the January transfer window looking for players, with Eddie Howe’s side now stepping up their transfer plans.
And the addition of Origi from Liverpool is said to be a potential loan option.
Origi has suffered with a lack of game time at Anfield in recent times, and seems to be some way down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
Newcastle see him as a potential improvement for their current front line though.
Origi could add increased competition for Callum Wilson, or even start alongside him if the Magpies want to play in a 4-4-2 shape.
Strong scoring form
The Belgian striker actually has a very solid scoring record this season when he has played, notching up three goals and two assists in just seven appearances.
But with Liverpool’s attacking options so strong it has been difficult to earn a place for himself.

That being said, Klopp would surely still be taking a risk to sanction his departure.
Liverpool are set to lose Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the new year, which will deplete their forward options significantly, and Origi would surely have been in his plans at that stage.
Liverpool assistant Pep Ljinders has recently called him a world class finisher, which has been shown on occasion this term.
Newcastle could offer Liverpool a significant loan fee for the forward, which may make the deal look tempting.
But it will be interesting to see whether a temporary move would be sanctioned, or whether Liverpool would want to keep the striker, who is said to be valued at £20 million (Athletic), around.
