Internacional president Alessandro Barcellos believes Yuri Alberto will stay at the club despite links with Premier League trio Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City, speaking to Bola Vip.

The top-flight trio have certainly taken an interest in the Brazilian market in recent times.

Since hiring former Selecao ace Edu Gaspar as technical director in 2019, Pablo Mari and Gabriel Martinelli have arrived at the Emirates, while interest was shown in Brenner and Juventus wonder kid Kaio Jorge

Everton have snapped up a couple of talented Brazilians too, including Allan and Richarlison, while Manchester City added another fleet-footed frontman to Pep Guardiola’s squad in the shape of so-called ‘new Neymar’ Kayky in the summer.

City have also scouted Millonarios winger Emerson Rodriguez, according to his agent.

Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City all eye Yuri Alberto

It’s no real surprise, then, that Alberto’s ice-cool finishing skills have earned him a place on the respective radars of Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City, via Torcedores and Globo Esporte.

“He is a highly sought and harassed player, spoken about by clubs around the world,” says Barcellos, insisting reports suggesting an offer has arrived from the Etihad are wide of the mark.

“Concrete interest didn’t come (from Man City) – but others probed.

“We are making an effort to keep Yuri Alberto. He is a distinguished player. Our expectation is he will stay with us, even though he is aware of the financial difficulties (we are facing).

“He is a player who has an important value but Internacional will do everything possible and impossible to ensure that, if he leaves the club one day, he will leave for a fee that has a positive impact on our finances.”

The implication is clear.

Alberto, who has scored three hat-tricks in 2021 alone, won’t leave on the cheap. His agent recently admitted an offer in the region of £9 million – believed to be from AC Milan – had been rejected with Internacional looking for closer to £17 million.

According to Globo Esporte, Arsenal have been scouting 20-year-old Alberto since 2017 – long before Edu’s appointment – with the striker admitting last week he “dreams” of playing in Europe.
