Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea have both scouted Millonarios winger Emerson Rodriguez, agent Diego Carannante tells the Fiorentina blog.

Whenever a talented young player bursts onto the scene in South America, Man City are usually not far away.

In recent seasons, Nahuel Bustos, Douglas Luiz, Marlos Moreno and more have joined the English champions for sizeable fees, while the talented Kayky confirmed over the weekend that he has agreed a ‘dream’ £9 million move to the Etihad (Globo Esporte).

Of course, neither Bustos, Luiz nor Moreno came close playing a Premier League game in sky blue, spending much of their time at the Champions League finalists loaned out to one of City’s many sister clubs.

So we’ll forgive the cynics among you for wondering whether 21-year-old Rodriguez has been identified as someone capable of playing for Pep Guardiola’s star studded first-team, rather than someone sold on for a tidy profit after a spell with Girona or New York FC.

“As a winger I would recommend Emerson Rodriguez, a Colombian born in 2001, owned by the Millonarios of Bogota and already watched by City and Chelsea,” says Carannante, who last week admitted that another exciting Colombian had been offered to Everton during a hectic summer transfer window.

Manchester City have also been linked with Stipe Biuk, an 18-year-old left winger who exploded onto the scene at Croatian outfit Hajduk Split recently.

Biuk’s agent, however, played down reports linking the teenager with a move to England, insisting that, so far, only Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow have come forward to express their interest.

“I can only confirm the interest of Lokomotiv,” says Dzenis Mujicic, via Soccer.
