Bayern Munich have identified Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as their ideal heir for Corentin Tolisso, according to Calciomercato, in a potential transfer blow to Liverpool.

The Bundesliga side are paying close attention to Tchouameni’s situation in the Principality with Tolisso out of contract next year. Julian Nagelsmann wants Der FCB to refresh their engine room if the Frenchman leaves, and is ready to rival for the Monegasques’ star.

Juventus are also attentive to Tchouameni’s progress at the Stade Louis II after establishing himself as a sensational prospect. Ligue 1 named the 21-year-old as the French top-flight’s Young Player of the Year after an influential campaign last season.

Tchouameni is the centrepiece of Niko Kovac’s plans at Monaco, where his efforts have caught Liverpool’s attention, along with Bayern. That’s according to Tuttosport, who report Chelsea and the Reds are likely to challenge Juventus for the five-cap France international.

Juventus had already explored signing Tchouameni in the summer, and will now return in the January transfer window. The Monegasques star is one of their key mid-season targets, but would return with greater endeavour next summer if needed.

However, interest from Bayern Munich – plus Liverpool and Chelsea – could force Juventus into approaching Monaco for a January transfer for Tchouameni. Calciomercato previously reported the Stade Louis II side’s €40m (£34m) asking price is not insurmountable for Juve.

Should Liverpool edge Bayern and Juventus to transfer for Monaco ace Tchouameni?

Tchouameni is earning transfer admirers in Liverpool, Juventus and Bayern Munich with his dynamic and aggressive displays for Monaco. He is one of the vital players in Kovac’s plans, as the Rouen-born star mops up possession and offers creativity.

Tchouameni has scored twice in 15 games across all competitions so far this season, after netting three and assisting four in 42 appearances last term. He also made his France debut last month and is yet to miss a game under Didier Deschamps.

Jurgen Klopp would no doubt like Tchouameni to transfer to Liverpool and offer that same influence at Anfield. But Tolisso’s uncertain future at Bayern – and Juventus’ eager interest – could see the German miss out on any potential deal.
