Everton have a firm interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur target Joaquin Correa, but both Premier League sides now face a big problem for the Lazio striker, per Calciomercato.it.

That’s because Inter Milan have taken the lead as Simone Inzaghi would gladly take the Argentine to the San Siro. Correa was a pivotal part of the Nerazzurri boss’s side at the Stadio Olimpico last season, before he replaced Antonio Conte at the Serie A champions.

Inzaghi started Correa in 33 of his 36 appearances in all competitions last term, and only left the 26-year-old on the bench three times. In return, the forward offered his manager 11 goals and six assists. Only Ciro Immobile scored more for the Biancocelesti with 25 strikes.

Inter have taken in the lead in the race for Correa with Inzaghi open to reuniting with his Lazio centrepiece. The £46,000-per-week forward is also the most likely to leave as Maurizio Sarri makes the Stadio Olimpico squad his own.

Everton are seriously interested in testing Lazio’s resolve for Correa, who Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain also admire. The Biancocelesti would, however, want at least €35m (£30m) to sell the eight-cap attacker, who is on holiday after winning the Copa America.

Correa is also waiting for Lazio to give a definitive verdict on his future as Tottenham and PSG’s interest becomes increasingly distant. Spurs Managing Director Fabio Paratici was working hard on a deal, with Alfredo Pedulla claiming he bid £25m this month.

Paratici’s proposal could be some way shy of Lazio President Claudio Lotito’s ultimate asking price, though. TuttoMercatoWEB note he dreams of €50m (£43m), with €35m (£30m) his absolute minimum.

Everton and Tottenham face big Correa issue in Inter Milan amid chase of Lazio ace

Everton and Tottenham face a big problem for Correa with Inter Milan now the leading suitor for the Lazio sensation. More so the Toffees, than anything, with Spurs further behind in the order of likely destinations for the attacking dynamo.

Inter are also ready to fight Everton for Correa, who shone at Lazio under Inzaghi last season. And not just in his goals, as his all-round game was impressive enough to attract PSG and Tottenham’s attention.

Correa stood out at the Stadio Olimpico with his pacey runs and ability to create space for himself and teammates. He collected the ball well on the move, made counter-attacking moves tick and found ways out of tight pockets. All of which should do him well in England.
