Celtic have learned who they will face in the Third Qualifying Round of the Champions League – if they can get past FC Midtjylland – and Hoops fans on Twitter aren’t hopeful of their chances.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side kick off their bid to reach the Group Stage tomorrow night when they face the Danes at Celtic Park, and they now know a clash with PSV Eindhoven or Galatasaray awaits them.
After finishing second in the Scottish Premiership last season, Celtic must negotiate their way through three rounds of qualifying to reach the riches of the Group Stage and it’ll be no easy feat if they get there.
Should Celtic make it to the Champions League Third Qualifying Round and lose, they will automatically enter the Europa League Group Stage but defeat to Midtjylland will see the Hoops drop into the Europa Conference League Playoff.
The first leg takes place on August 3/4 with the return on August 10 but Celtic fans hoping to make a trip abroad to see the Hoops in action will be disappointed after UEFA banned away fans from the qualifying rounds.
However, fans on Twitter weren’t expecting that to make much difference as they reacted to the draw this morning.
Here are some of the comments from Celtic fans after the Hoops learned who was their next opponent in Champions League qualifying:
