Brighton and Hove Albion want to spend their Ben White windfall on a move for Celtic striker and Arsenal target Odsonne Edouard.

That’s according to The Express, who report that the Seagulls are already looking into potential new recruits with White on his way out.

Sky Sports claim Brighton are selling White to Arsenal for £50million, and he will complete a medical with the Gunners next week.

Arsenal are unlikely to be paying all of that fee in one go, but Brighton will receive a chunk of cash to spend – and they want Edouard.

The Celtic hitman smashed 22 goals in 40 games last season, and his total record for Celtic now stands at 83 goals and 37 assists in 168 games.

That’s the kind of clinical forward Brighton need to find, as the Seagulls haven’t really made the most of Graham Potter’s expansive style of play.

Edouard would certainly provide quality in Brighton’s attack, and they may have a real chance of a deal with Edouard out of contract in 2022.

What’s interesting is that Arsenal have also wanted to sign Edouard, with The Telegraph reporting in April that the Gunners want to reunite him with ex-Celtic teammate Kieran Tierney – and the pair even share an agent now.

It now looks like their cash for White could go towards Edouard in an interesting transfer knock-on effect, whilst also making a Brighton move for Eddie Nketiah look unlikely.
