Leeds United are ‘very close’ to signing Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Whites are seeking reinforcements after a strong first season back in the Premier League, and another midfielder appears to be on the radar.
Nandez is a name that has been linked with Leeds for some time now, and it seems that Victor Orta is closing in on a big capture.
Nandez close to joining Leeds
The report claims that Nandez is now ‘very close’ to making his move to Elland Road. There is no fee stated, but La Nuova Sardegna reported last week that it would take £30million to sign Nandez.
Corriere dello Sport now suggest that Leeds are closing in because Inter Milan have yet to make a concrete offer and Fiorentina seemingly can’t afford to strike a deal.
That leaves Leeds as the clear favourites to secure Nandez, the Uruguayan international who starred at Boca Juniors before heading to Europe in 2019.

Lengthy pursuit of Nandez potentially coming to an end
Leeds were first linked with Nandez back in 2019, with Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta keen to lure him to the Premier League according to Tuttomercatoweb.
Bielsa was allegedly keen again last summer, so it’s no great shock that Leeds are back in with another move for the 25-year-old.
Nandez is diminutive at 5ft 8in tall, but he’s a bundle of energy and plays with real intensity, racking up 22 yellow cards in his two Serie A campaigns.
The ‘inexhaustible’ Nandez seems to be a great fit for Bielsa’s style of play, and this lengthy pursuit may finally come to an end if the new reports from Italy are to be believed.
