Marcelo Bielsa is keen for Leeds United to sign the £33 million-rated Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez this summer, according to Diario de Registrado.
The West Yorkshire giants have shown little desire to embark on a Fulham-esque summer splurge after sealing their return to the promised land.
But do not assume they will take a leaf out of Norwich’s book instead and decide against reinforcing a Championship-winning squad.
Owner Andrea Radrizzani has shown time and again that he is more than willing to put his money where his mouth is.
And while striking superstars Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are pipe dreams at best, don’t expect Helder Costa to still be the most expensive signing in Leeds history when the window slams shut in early October.
“Which is our transfer record? Helder Costa? Yes, I think we could break it soon,” Radrizzani said recently.
Whether Nandez will be the man to stand alone as the biggest signing in Leeds’ 100-year existence remains to be seen.

Reports claim that Bielsa is a ban fan of an all-action midfielder he knows well from his formative years at Boca Juniors.
Nandez has a £33 million release clause in his contract and has been linked with a move to Elland Road since as far back as March 2019 (Tuttomercatoweb).
Only now, with Premier League riches burning a hole in Radrizzani’s pocket, can Leeds finally step up their interest in a Uruguay international who epitomises the garra spirit and never-say-die attitude so often associated with the perennial overachievers of South American football.
Nandez, who picked up 14 yellow cards last season in Serie A, would add grit and guile at the heart of Leeds’ midfield. Just don’t get on his bad side during those weekly murderball sessions.
