According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are now cooling their interest in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus.
The Reds allowed Georginio Wijnaldum to leave the club this summer, with the Dutchman joining Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Jurgen Klopp does have other midfielders at his disposal, but there could be scope for a new signing to come in if FSG loosen the pursestrings.
Liverpool’s interest in Neuhaus
AS reported last week that everything indicated that Gladbach star Neuhaus would be joining Liverpool despite interest from other clubs.
It looked like the Reds were in pole position to secure Neuhaus, with all the reports pointing towards a move to Anfield.
Sport1’s Florian Plettenberg then suggested that Liverpool were ‘definitely’ interested in Neuhaus and had made contact over a possible deal.
With Plettenberg describing him as ‘one of the best’ Bundesliga players and ‘very talented’, Liverpool fans may have started to get excited about Neuhaus arriving.

Liverpool now backing away
It’s now stated that Liverpool are cooling their interest in signing Neuhaus but will still monitor his progress with Germany at Euro 2020.
The issue is that Liverpool didn’t activate the £34.25million release clause, which has now expired, so Gladbach can demand whatever they want.
It now seems unlikely that Liverpool will go ahead and pay even more for Neuhaus, so we may not see the 24-year-old join Liverpool at all this summer with the chances of a move ‘lessened considerably’.
