Liverpool have lost midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, and it looks like Florian Neuhaus is the favourite to replace him.
Wijnaldum has left for Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract, and whilst Jurgen Klopp does have other options, a new signing could come in.
Many names have been linked with the Reds, just like in any summer, but there appears to be some weight behind the Neuhaus speculation.
Who is Florian Neuhaus?
Formerly of 1860 Munich, Neuhaus joined Borussia Monchengladbach in 2017 and is now a first-team star there having thrived on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf in the 2017-18 campaign.
The 24-year-old racked up eight goals and eight assists in all competitions last season, and could feature for Germany at Euro 2020.
Neuhaus isn’t quite as mobile as Wijnaldum, but he has great technical ability and is a real goal threat, meaning he could bring a new dimension to Liverpool’s midfield in Wijnaldum’s place.
With great balance, touch, the ability to pick up the ball and start attacks as well as glide past players and finish in the final third, Neuhaus looks like an almost complete midfielder.

Liverpool’s interest in Neuhaus
AS Sport claim that the signs are pointing towards Liverpool signing Neuhaus, with their interest seemingly stronger than anyone else.
Now, Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg has told the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red podcast that Liverpool are ‘definitely’ interested in Neuhaus, with contact made between the player and Liverpool officials.
Plettenberg raved about Neuhaus as a talent, talking up his importance to the German national team as Liverpool plot a move to sign him.
“To my information, there has been contact between the management of the player and the bosses from Liverpool,” said Plettenberg. “So, as you can see, Liverpool is highly interested in Florian Neuhaus but it’s clear because he’s a very versatile player.”
“He’s a very flexible, very talented, very important player of the German national team and one of the best players in the German Bundesliga, so we have to say, okay, maybe it’s possible that a German player is going abroad, but there are no concrete negotiations right now, but Liverpool – they are definitely interested in signing Neuhaus,” he added.
