Tottenham fans think Sky Sports are once again scapegoating Harry Kane after England’s woeful performance against Scotland.
The Three Lions may have been riding a wave after their win against Croatia, but they were brought back down to earth against the Scots at Euro 2020 on Friday.
And following the game, Sky provided their ratings for, both the English and Scottish players, with Tottenham’s hitman being the lowest-scoring with a rating of 3/10.
Tottenham fans aren’t happy that their captain is seemingly seen as the problem when players like Raheem Sterling (6), Mason Mount (5), Kalvin Phillips (6), Luke Shaw (7) and Reece James (5) are provided with a higher rating.
There’s no doubt that Kane was pretty poor against the Scots, but aside from that header he missed, which was then ruled out offside, following James’ cross, what other chances were created for the Spurs man on the night?
If Kane was playing for Spain, instead of Alvaro Morata, then he would have a few goals to his name already.
The same could be said if he played for Italy, Holland or Belgium. All have created a lot of chances for their attackers.
Yet, under Gareth Southgate’s system, it seems to be a tactic of a ball over the fullback for Sterling to run onto.
That’s not Kane’s game! If you feed him, he will score.
He has proven during this recently concluded season, and at the last World Cup that, has he has what it takes to produce the goods.
Perhaps it’s time the limelight isn’t on Kane, but on Southgate’s tactics which are resulting in one of the best number nine’s in the world not even working off scraps.
Here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to Sky’s rating on Kane:
