Andros Townsend has rubbished suggestions that Harry Kane’s form for England at Euro 2020 is linked to uncertainty over his Tottenham Hotspur future.

A month before the competition began, it was heavily reported that Kane had decided he wanted to finally leave Spurs this summer.

The 27-year-old did that speculation no favours at all by effectively confirming the rumours in an interview with Gary Neville on Sky Sports later in that same week.

Fast forward to no and Kane – who won the Premier League’s Golden Boot last season – has had a pretty poor start to the European Championships, struggling in both the Three Lions’ win over Croatia and their 0-0 draw with Scotland on Friday night.

It was also widely reported – as covered by HITC Sport – that Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy was left fuming with the timing of Kane’s interview with Neville, considering the North Londoners’ season hadn’t even ended.

He is looking uncharacteristically rusty in front of goal but his former Tottenham teammate Townsend claims that his form is unrelated to that pre-tournament speculation, suggesting that Kane already knows for ‘100 percent’ certainty that he’s going to get a move away anyway.

He told Stadium Astro: “You know Harry Kane isn’t doing that interview with Gary Neville without knowing 100 percent of a club who’s going to break the bank to sign him. I don’t think he’s sitting there thinking ‘Is this club interested or are they not?’. He has put that to bed. For some reason he’s just snatching at chances.”
