Jorge Mendes is hoping Olympiakos goalkeeper Jose Sa completes his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers as soon as possible, although Rui Patricio’s uncertain future could complicate matters, as reported by SDNA

While all the signs suggest that Patricio has played his last game for the Midland giants, the fact remains that, as it stands, the veteran shot-stopper is still a Wolves player.

It was reported earlier in June that Jose Mourinho’s Roma were planning to tie up a deal for Patricio before Euro 2020 kicked off last Friday.

That, of course, did not come to fruition.

And while the former Sporting Lisbon glovesman is expected to swap the Black Country for the Stadio Olimpico at some point over the next couple of weeks, Wolves cannot realistically step up their pursuit of a replacement until they know for certain that Patricio is leaving.

Will Jose Sa replace Rui Patricio at Wolves?

This, then, leaves Jose Sa in limbo.

Sportime reported earlier this week that Wolves had all-but agreed a £9 million deal that would see the 6ft 4ins Iberian take over from his 33-year-old compatriot at Molineux.

Sa, for that matter, is understood to be keen on a move to England this summer after winning two Greek titles in Piraeus.

SDNA adds that Jorge Mendes – the agent working on behalf of both Sa and Patricio – wants to bring another Gestifute client to Wolves as soon as possible, preferably before Olympiakos’s Champions League qualifiers get underway over the next couple of weeks.

Whether that happens, however, remains to be seen.

Wolves completed the signing of Colombia centre-back Yerson Mosquera from Atletico Nacional earlier in the week, the £4.5 million wonderkid becoming the first of what could be many new arrivals in a busy summer for Bruno Lage and co.
