Arsenal have made contact with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Ruben Neves, according to The Express & Star.
Earlier today, The Times claimed that Arsenal are interested in signing Neves from Premier League rivals Wolves.
The Express & Star are now reporting that the Gunners have made contact with the Wanderers over the transfer of the Portugal international and have held ‘early talks’.
However, there is one problem.
Arsenal need to sell players before they can fund a move for Neves.
The report claims that a transfer is ‘only likely’ if Arsenal can sell some of their fringe players, including Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Would Neves make Arsenal better?
Yes, he would.

The Portugal international is only 24 and has been superb for Wolves since he joined them back in 2017.
In fact, Neves has been so good that former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves compared him to Paul Scholes on BT Sport (20 February, 2020 10.45pm).
Now, of course, Scholes is one of the best midfielders to ever play in the Premier League.
Neves has not reached that status yet, but the Portugal international is only 24 years of age.
There is every chance that Neves could become a great player in the coming years.
