Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist has admitted he would consider a move to Celtic this summer if the Scottish Premiership giants step up their interest, speaking to Blick

Entering his prime aged 29, the former Aston Villa youngster may feel he’ll never have a better chance to join one of the biggest clubs in British football.

Celtic are in the market for a new shot-stopper after the high-profile struggles of Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas.

What’s more, the Hoops appear to be prioritising a goalkeeper with a proven track record in Scottish football, with Siegrist joining departing Hibernian ace Ofir Marciano on their radar.

Can Benjamin Siegrist solve Celtic’s goalkeeping problems?

In December, Siegrist’s agent told the Daily Mail Celtic had been keeping tabs on his client, who is understood to be valued at a bargain £400,000 with little more than a year left on his Dundee United contract.

And, after three seasons at Tannadice, a fresh start may be just around the corner for Siegrist.

“I don’t want to force a change but I am already aiming for the next step in my career,” admits the 6ft 4in former Switzerland U21 international.

When pressed about a potential move to Celtic, Siegrist was reluctant to give too much away, although he did admit offers would be considered.

“If there is interest, I’ll take a close look,” he adds.

Celtic are expected to lose Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer, potentially to Leicester City and Newcastle United respectively, although the Glasgow giants appear to be on the verge of completing summer signing number one.
