Celtic have fought off competition from a number of English clubs for Joey Dawson, with the Scunthorpe United youngster undergoing a medical at the Scottish Premiership giants, as reported by Irn Bru.
The rebuild is underway at Parkhead.
While Dawson is not going to be leading the riposte against Rangers next term, the highly-rated midfielder could still prove to be an intelligent bit of business from a club whose recruitment record has certainly come in for criticism in recent months.
Scunthorpe-based publication Irn Bru claim that Dawson has already passed a medical at Celtic.
And the Hoops won the race for his sought-after signature after a number of clubs from England’s second-tier expressed an interest.
Dawson recently rejected a new contract at League Two Scunthorpe but the Irons are still expected to earn a decent fee fee for a gifted attacking midfielder who became the youngest player in the club’s history back in 2019.

Dawson is the nephew of Nottingham Forest defender and former England international Michael.
And Scunthorpe manager Neil Cox admitted, back in April, that the Glanford Park outfit would not stand in his way should the teenager be offered an opportunity higher up the footballing pyramid.
“If somebody did come in to us and offer us good money for him, would we stand in his way? We probably wouldn’t because it’s a good opportunity for the boy,” he said.
