According to a report by L’Equipe, Tottenham are ‘very interested’ in signing 25-year-old Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer.
The goalkeeper position is an area that Tottenham seemingly want to bolster at the end of the season with links to Nick Pope and Dean Henderson constantly swirling, but it now seems as though Maignan is one they’re keen on.
The stopper eared his first cap for France in 2020, and that’s a testament to just how good he is, considering Les Blues have an immense amount of depth in the goalkeeper position.
L’Equipe also claim that the arrival of Maignan could see Hugo Lloris depart Tottenham in the summer, with Manchester United named as one potential destination for the France captain.
Lloris is entering the final year of his contract, and he’s not getting any younger, so perhaps it may be time for Tottenham to think about replacing their long-term number one.
Maignan has played every single game for a Lille team that sits second in the table in Ligue 1 this term, and he’s played a key part in his team’s title challenge this term.
Whether or not Spurs do sign Maignan remains to be seen, but it seems as though they have a strong interest and they have been targeting a new goalkeeper for some time now.
This is certainly a situation that is worth keeping an eye on in the coming months, and it’s also worth looking out for any further reports linking Lloris with a move away from Tottenham.
