It’s been a season of highs for Rangers.

Finishing top of their Europa League group. Taking a 23-point lead in the title race. Watching their rivals spectacularly implode.

With a last-32 tie against Antwerp coming up and the Premiership trophy in sight, it was vital that the squad emerged unscathed from the January transfer window.

Nine players departed, but none of them were regulars in Steven Gerrard’s starting XI. The only permanent move sealed by a member of the first team squad was Ross McCrorie’s, who headed for Pittodrie as part of Scott Wright’s move from Aberdeen to the league leaders.

Jordan Jones, George Edmundson and Brandon Barker all headed for England on loan, while Glenn Middleton joined St Johnstone until the end of the season.

The manager held on to the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, while adding Wright as well as Jack Simpson from Bournemouth.

Simpson’s former Cherries colleague signed a pre-contract agreement and will arrive at Ibrox in the summer.

In a one-hour poll conducted on Twitter, over 1,000 Rangers fans gave their verdict on the club’s activity in the window.

They were overwhelmingly satisfied, with 59.4% declaring themselves happy.

28.2% weren’t fussed either way, while only 12.4% declared themselves unhappy.

The supporters below were clearly impressed, with one calling Rangers’ window “different class”.

Gerrard was in an upbeat mood when he addressed the press on Tuesday morning, with the official Rangers Twitter account quoting him as saying: “It was a late night but today is a new day and I am ready to go.

“It was a really positive day for us and two real talents that will energise the squad.

“A really positive window for us and I’m really happy. I have to thank (sporting director) Ross Wilson and the board for the support.”
