Liverpool winger Sadio Mane scored twice against Tottenham on Saturday evening.
The agent of Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has denied claims that his client joined Liverpool instead of Tottenham due to being offered a better financial package by the Reds, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool picked up just their second win of 2017 by beating Tottenham 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday evening, with winger Mane stealing the limelight against Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Mane bagged both goals in the win, first outpacing the Tottenham defence before firing high into the net past Hugo Lloris, and added a second just moments later, smashing home from close range after Lloris had blocked Roberto Firmino’s effort on goal.

Liverpool’s recent poor form has been a concern, but many attributed it to Mane’s departure to Gabon, where he represented Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. Now back at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal, Mane showed just how important he is with a superb display against Spurs.

A £34million summer signing from Southampton (BBC Sport), Mane has been vital to the Liverpool attack this season, possessing remarkable pace and quality end product having notched 11 goals and four assists in the Premier League.
It’s often been noted that the one thing Tottenham don’t possess is an attacker with world class speed, and fans were left wondering just how different the result would have been if Mane was playing for Spurs rather than Liverpool.
That thought was particularly striking on Saturday as The Times reported that Mane actually visited Tottenham’s training ground last summer with a view to joining Spurs, but they cancelled a move due to his wage demands.
However, Mane’s agent Bjorn Bezemer has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying that the claims of Mane choosing Liverpool due to financial reasons aren’t true, and his move to Anfield was purely down to footballing reasons.

“Sadio had five offers in the summer and financially all of them were good,” said Bezemer. “We wanted the right team, with the right coach at the right moment to arrive at the next level. That is the reason Sadio went to Anfield,” he added.
