Liverpool reportedly attempted to sign Real Madrid attacker Mariano.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Liverpool made an enquiry into the possibility of signing Real Madrid striker Mariano, but he wanted to stay where he is.
The Reds have endured a wobble of late, winning just one game in nine attempts since the start of 2017, with recent defeats to Swansea City and Wolverhampton Wanderers putting a real dampener on their season.

A once devastating attack has faltered recently, but manager Jurgen Klopp didn’t bring any new forwards to Anfield during the January transfer window – though it seems he did try to make one addition.

Spanish newspaper AS report that Liverpool were one of a number of clubs to have made a move for Real Madrid attacker Mariano, but he wanted to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer.
Real Madrid striker Mariano
Mariano, 23, joined Real Madrid as a teenager from Badalona back in 2011, and made his name in the club’s Castilla and B teams, scoring a combined 50 goals in 90 games before moving up into the first team.
The striker – who has one cap and one goal for the Dominican Republic at international level – has offered cover for Karim Benzema and Alvaro Morata this season, and has managed to score five goals in just seven appearances this season, despite starting only once.
His impressive goal return in limited minutes means that clubs were keen to sign him in January, with Liverpool allegedly making an approach to bring him to Anfield before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Mariano chose to stay with Madrid though, also snubbing interest from Alaves, Leganes, Real Betis, Malaga, Sporting Gijon and Eintracht Frankfurt as he would rather leave himself open to a summer move away, when Liverpool may well be keen again.
