Jurgen Klopp’s side are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 46 points from 24 matches. The Merseyside outfit are only four points behind Spurs, who are currently second in the standings.

While the Reds’ recent results and performances have not been great, if they win at Anfield this evening, then they will close the gap on Tottenham to just a point. Ahead of the match, Robbie Savage has made a claim about the two teams.
The former Derby County midfielder has asked whether Liverpool are really as bad as they are being made out to be given the small gap between them and Tottenham.
“Apparently, Liverpool can’t keep a clean sheet for love nor money while Tottenham have the best defensive unit in the Premier League,” Savage wrote in The Mirror.

“But if the arguments are so convincing, and the evidence is so conclusive, how come Liverpool will be only a point behind Tottenham if they win the game?
“And just remind me: Who outplayed whom for an hour when the sides drew 1-1 at White Hart Lane last September?”
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has also commented ahead of the match between Liverpool and Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
“It’s a real crossroads for Tottenham this game,” Sherwood told talkSPORT. “If they were to get maximum points at Anfield then you would have to say that they are certainly in this title race and looking for Chelsea to have a slip up.”
Tottenham will head into this evening’s game as favourites, but one should not dismiss Liverpool’s chances of picking up a point at Anfield.
