Atlanta United’s Josef Martinez is keen on a move to a big European club, and named Tottenham as a possible destination.
Atlanta United attacker Josef Martinez has told Lider en Deportes in his native Venezuela that his dream of playing for a big club remains intact, hinting at a desire to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Atlanta United are Major League Soccer’s latest expansion club, and they will begin their life as a professional club later this year, with the club looking to make big moves.
Former Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has been appointed as their new boss in a big splash move, whilst they’ve also been adding notable players of late too.

Football League fans will be well aware of signings like Tyrone Mears, Chris McCann and Kenwyne Jones, whilst South American stars such as Miguel Almiron and Carlos Carmona have also joined.

Recently, Atlanta United swooped to land another South American talent, as Venezuelan international Josef Martinez has signed on loan from Torino with an option to buy in something of a coup for the club.
General View of White Hart Lane
Martinez, 23, hit 13 goals in 75 appearances for Torino after a 2014 move from Swiss side Thun, whilst he’s also notched nine goals in 37 caps for the Venezuelan national team.
A pacey attacker who can play up front or out wide, Martinez will be looking to impress during his loan spell with Atlanta United, especially given that he appears to have dreams of a big move off the back of his spell in America.
Martinez has told Lider en Deportes that he hopes to use his loan spell as a springboard to a bigger move elsewhere, and hinted that he has eyes for a move to Tottenham, given that Spurs have links to Atlanta United having loaned Anton Walkes to them.
“The desire is intact,” said Martinez. “I’m just 23 years old. Atlanta is closely linked to Tottenham and other European teams, who are buying young players with big plans for them,” he added.

A move to White Hart Lane seems far-fetched right now, but if Martinez does impress in Major League Soccer, he could earn a move to England, just months after Tuttosport claimed that he was a target for Newcastle United.
