Magpies goalkeeper Karl Darlow spoke to the Shields Gazette about his side’s season so far, and drew attention to their points tally, suggesting that it is something he and his teammates should be proud of.
Newcastle currently sit top of the Championship table, one point clear of second placed Brighton & Hove Albion, but Rafa Benitez’ men have struggled for consistency over recent weeks.

They have won four of their last seven Championship games, and got dumped out of the FA Cup by League One side Oxford United.
But Darlow, who has started 20 of Newcastle’s 29 Championship games so far this term, believes his side have performed well on the whole, drawing comparisons between their points tally thus far and other teams who have been promoted in the past, as quoted by the Shields Gazette:

“We have set a very good pace with the points we are picking up at this level. When you look at the totals that tend to get you up in this league we are well on track for that. We need to keep concentrated and make sure that when we go away from home we come back with all three points.”

The Tynesiders now face a crucial month or so ahead of them in the league. Successive away trips to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City are followed by consecutive home games against Aston Villa and Bristol City respectively.
