The West Ham United winger has been one of the few shining lights for the club this season.
The Hammers were given a footballing lesson by Manchester City last night, not for the first time this season, with Pep Guardiola’s men running out 4-0 winners, and Michail Antonio explained how unforced errors cost his side against the Citizens, as quoted by the club’s official website.

West Ham’s Olympic Stadium has borne witness to some abysmal performances from Slaven Bilic’s men so far this term, and last night was no exception.
City were superb, but they were allowed to be by a Hammers team who were totally bereft of any kind of enthusiasm, energy or endeavour.

It has been quite clear so far this season that the best way to get at City is to press them high up the pitch, close them down early, and put pressure on their goalkeeper when he is in possession of the football.
But instead, the West Ham players chose to sit back and allow Guardiola’s men to play their football under no pressure whatsoever.
And Antonio told WHUFC.com that his side’s display was simply not good enough, and joked how he is thankful that they don’t have to play the Citizens again this season:

“Right now, that result is painful and it’s really hurting us. It’s definitely hard to take but you just have to give it to them; they’re a quality team and they showed today that they’re lethal on the counter attack. We made a couple of mistakes today but we have just got to learn from it and pick ourselves up. Luckily we don’t have to play them again this season!”

Next up for the East London outfit is a trip to the south coast to take on Southampton, and the West Ham players owe their fans a performance after last night’s debacle.
