Celtic have finally brought in that much-needed goalkeeper ahead of the new season starting.
Viljami Sinisalo joins from Aston Villa on a five-year deal and is now set to compete for Celtic’s number one jersey.
The Bhoys aren’t finished because experienced goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is also closing on a transfer to Celtic.
After the fans waited and waited for Joe Hart’s replacement to come in following his retirement, they will have two in no time in the building.
Rising youngster Viljami Sinisalo is confirmed and is now part of the USA tour, with the 22-year-old getting sent a message by his now-former teammate, Emiliano Martinez.
Aston Villa’s number one goalkeeper is regarded as the best in the world, he recently won another Copa America title and Sinisalo would have learnt a lot from him during his time at Villa Park.
The Finland international wrote on Instagram that he now takes a ‘huge step’ in his career by leaving the Midlands and moving to Glasgow.
Sinisalo, who was on-loan at Exeter City last season and won their Player of the Season, added by saying that Celtic is a ‘massive club’ and he plans to win ‘as many trophies as possible’.
In the comments section of Sinisalo’s IG post, he was sent a four-word message from Martinez which simply read ‘‘All the best, brother’.
Viljami Sinisalo joins ‘massive club’ Celtic
“I take huge step on my journey now to a massive football club with incredible support and history,” wrote Sinisalo.
“I want to follow in the footsteps of the incredible goalkeepers they have had and play my part in helping them win as many trophies as possible!”
Viljami Sinisalo & Kasper Schmeichel at Celtic
As mentioned above, it’s a matter of time before a deal for Schmeichel is confirmed and Celtic have covered both bases.
At the age of 37, Leicester City’s Premier League title-winning keeper Schmeichel has as much experience as Hart did, so they have filled that void.

But the arrival of Sinisalo also allows the champions to bring in that much-craved long-term keeper fans have been wanting.
Of course, Schmeichel will be the main guy, but you just wonder if Rodgers will provide Sinisalo with enough starts to allow him to push for the number one jersey pretty much straight away.
Now that the keepers are sorted, sources have told HITC that Celtic are closing in on a deal to bring back Paulo Bernardo.
