Celtic are closing in on a deal to sign Kasper Schmeichel and more details on his contract have now emerged.
The Glasgow giants relied on former Manchester City and England goalkeeper Joe Hart between the sticks last season, but the 37-year-old announced his retirement at the end of the campaign.
It forced Brendan Rodgers‘ side to dip into the transfer market to find a new shot-stopper and they have landed on former Leicester City man Kasper Schmeichel.
The Dane spent last season with Belgian side Anderlecht but is available on a free transfer this summer after his contract expired.
A move back to British shores is close which would also see Schmeichel reunite with his former Leicester boss at Celtic.

Kasper Schmeichel contract details reported
At 37 years old, Schmeichel is set to join Celtic at the same age that Hart just retired at.
He will bring invaluable experience to the club but is by no means a long-term solution to Celtic’s goalkeeping department.
As reported by French outlet L’Equipe, Schmeichel is set to sign a one-year contract with an additional season as an option.
The report adds that he is in “advanced negotiations” with Celtic and has decided to “leave Belgium for good”.
HITC understands that Schmeichel completed his medical on Monday ahead of the move being finalised.
A smart signing by Celtic
Hart’s retirement should not have come as a surprise to the backroom staff at Celtic Park, but it did force the club to find a quick replacement this summer.

Schmeichel is exactly that – not a long-term solution, but a smart one. He can replace the leadership and experience lost with Hart’s exit without costing the club a penny.
A long-term fix is still needed by Rodgers and Celtic but they have afforded themselves time to scout out a new No.1.
