Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter in anger after hearing that Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United.
What’s the story?
Firstly, you might be wondering why this concerns Newcastle.
Well, the Manchester Evening News revealed a few days ago that the Magpies were leading the race to sign Tuanzebe.
However, he now looks set to join the Villans on a season-long loan.
The Athletic believe Dean Smith pushed hard to sign the 23-year-old.
Interestingly, Tuanzebe actually played 15 games under Steve Bruce while on loan at Aston Villa.
Understandably, the Newcastle fans on Twitter are furious.
So far, Bruce is yet to make a single signing, and things are looking very bleak with just days until the 2021/22 campaign gets underway.
Another one bites the dust
Tuanzebe isn’t the only player Newcastle have missed out on this summer.
The Magpies were forced to watch Kristoffer Ajer – a transfer target for the club – join Brentford, something that the fans were livid about.
There was similar anger when Newcastle missed out on a deal to sign Dion Sanderson, another player who was believed to be a target.
It really hasn’t been a great summer for the Magpies.
