Speaking on Soccer AM’s YouTube channel, Mohamed Elneny has been waxing-lyrical about Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno, claiming that he’s one of the best in the world.
Interestingly, Leno’s spot as Arsenal number one may be under threat this summer as the Gunners reportedly close in on a move for Andre Onana, while there have also been reports stating Leno could be sold.
However, Elneny believes Leno is up there with the world’s greatest.
What’s been said?
Elneny has been full of praise for his teammate.
“Yeah, for me he’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world now. As a person as well he’s really kind. He works really hard in the training ground when I see him and he always listens about how to improve himself and he trains really hard as well,” Elneny said

Is Onana better?
This is certainly an interesting comment, especially when you consider that Andre Onana could be coming to the Emirates.
Onana has also been described as one of the best in the world in the past, and he actually placed seventh on the Yashin Trophy voting back in 2019.
So, the question remains, is Leno better than Onana?
Well, it’s really hard to say, Onana hasn’t been tested often enough at the top level, playing all of his football in the Eredivisie so far, and while Leno has the experience at the top level, he’s shaky at times.
It will certainly be interesting to see what Arsenal do in terms of their goalkeeping position this summer, but if report are to be believed, Leno could be replaced as number one.
