Don Hutchison amazed by Tottenham and Liverpool’s transfer call after Federico Chiesa deal

Liverpool have completed the signing of Federico Chiesa from Juventus to add some much-needed spice to their summer transfer window.

Rather than having to watch the likes of Tottenham splash the cash, West Ham United produce one of the best windows and even Everton bringing in some players, Arne Slot now has a few new faces to his squad.

At first, Liverpool signed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, but he has been loaned back to Valencia, before Chiesa officially joined on Thursday.

It’s a deal that has surprised many, including Don Hutchison and he compared it to Tottenham’s transfer call this summer.

Liverpool have paid £12.5 million for Chiesa, an amazing piece of business in this inflated transfer market and that for a player who was winning the European Championships not so long ago.

Yes, the Italy international’s form has dropped since, but injuries have played a part in that and he is only 26, so the best years are ahead of him.

You have to say it’s one of the deals of the summer, with former Premier League midfielder Hutchison stating on Twitter ‘what a bargain’.

But it seems as though Hutchison isn’t too convinced about what Spurs have done the summer with their own deal under Ange Postecoglu.

Tottenham recorded a club-record transfer for Dominic Solanke by paying Bournemouth £65 million for the uncapped England striker.

Hutchison thinks it’s ‘incredible’ the London club have paid that type of fee for Solanke, yet Liverpool are paying nowhere near that for a player who has had a better career so far, as he posted on Twitter.

There have been some top deals made this summer, even though, the market is still inflated and crazy in many parts of the league.

Tottenham signed Archie Gray from Leeds and he is a player who could go on to have an outstanding future in years to come.
