Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has been linked with a return to the Scottish Premiership and Rangers, following Kyle Lafferty and Allan McGregor.

Steven Davis returning to Ibrox next summer is looking increasingly realistic.
According to Sky Sports, Rangers had expressed an interest in signing the 33-year-old Northern Ireland international over the summer. Davis has since failed to feature in any of Southampton’s Premier League games this season and his contract expires in 2019.
To boost Rangers’ hopes, Davis was spotted on Twitter this weekend admitting to a fan that he would be open to a return. And, should the former Aston Villa man pull on the famous deep blue again, he would join Kyle Lafferty and Allan McGregor in making an emotional homecoming.
McGregor returned on a free-transfer after his contract at Hull City expired and he has been a revelation between the sticks so far. Lafferty, meanwhile, arrived after a stellar spell at Hearts, where he scored 19 goals last season.
If Davis ultimately joins them, Steven Gerrard would be able to field the spine of the last Rangers’ team to win the Scottish Premiership, as far back as 2011.

McGregor was the club’s number one back then and Davis featured in all but one game in central midfield. Lafferty, meanwhile, scored 15 goals in all competitions as Rangers finished a point above Celtic.
While reuniting McGregor, Lafferty and Davis would not guarantee success, it would give Rangers’ squad real pedigree and experience.
