Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has reportedly set his sights on another ex Ibrox favourite.

Rangers want to bring Southampton captain Steven Davis back to Ibrox, according to Sky Sports (liveblog entry 15:58).
Midfielder Davis spent four seasons on Rangers’ books, in which he won three Premiership titles and five domestic cups before leaving for the Saints six years ago, becoming a regular on the south coast.

But despite playing 25 times for Southampton last season, the Northern Irishman’s future has grown uncertain after this week’s arrival of Stuart Armstrong, ironically from Rangers’ Old Firm rivals, Celtic.
And with 12 months to run on his contract at St Mary’s, the Saints could look to cash in on the 33-year-old rather than lose him for nothing at the end of the coming campaign.

A boyhood Rangers fan, Davis would follow in the footsteps of former Ibrox teammate Allan McGregor – who left at the same time as the former Aston Villa player – if he returns to Glasgow this summer.
Would the Southampton midfielder be a good addition for Steven Gerrard’s side?
