Could former Rangers captain Steven Davis return to the Scottish Premiership and Ibrox?

The mere thought of Steven Davis should have Rangers fans looking back to better times.
The Northern Irishman led The Gers to three successive Scottish Premiership titles between 2008 and 2011. And despite jumping ship after they were demoted to the fourth tier in 2012, joining Premier League newcomers Southampton, Davis remains a hugely popular figure at Ibrox.
So he would be welcomed back with open arms by the vast majority should he return to Rangers in the autumn of his career. And speaking to a fan over the international break, Davis himself has admitted that a second spell in Glasgow is not entirely off the cards.
According to Sky Sports back in April, Rangers had considered bringing Davis back to Ibrox this summer.

And considering that the former Aston Villa and Fulham man has less than a year left on his contract, don’t rule out the 33-year-old wearing the royal blue of Rangers once again this time next year.
Davis has not featured in any of Southampton’s Premier League games so far in 2018/19 but could bring vital experience and big-game know-how to Ibrox. Rangers have already brought back Allan McGregor and Kyle Lafferty so why not their former skipper too?
