Gab Marcotti has stated that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp transfer target Dusan Vlahovic would be a ‘very good fit’ for Arsenal following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, as he told ESPN.

The Juventus striker was a player wanted by Mikel Arteta last January when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was booted out – and in another turn of events involving another Arsenal forward, he is back on their radar.

Instead of moving to north London, the Serbia international, who was at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, headed to Turin from Florence to join Juventus where life has been pretty difficult.

Despite Vlahovic not being able to produce the explosive performances that got him plaudits at Fiorentina, he still has six goals from ten Serie A games this season.

But could a move to the Premier League be on the cards again? Well, Italian football expert Marcotti certainly backed the idea of the 24-year-old securing a transfer to Arsenal.

“It was a very good fit when they were first linked with him like 12 months ago, I think it would have made a lot of sense,” said Marcotti. “Now, I think it does (now), in some ways. What is the world that we know? There are no bad assets. Only badly-priced assets.

“In Dusan Vlahovic’s case, he is very different to Gabriel Jesus. I think there is no question, they need another striker. Do I like the idea that you bring in Vlahovic, he settles and learns the system.

“I mean he is athletic. He is tall. He is technically very good. He has had a bit of an up-and-down time at Juve. You plop him in there and, maybe when Gabriel Jesus comes back, then you could use Jesus on the wing in certain games. Maybe you could use them together in certain games.

“This is something Arsenal are missing. It would make a lot of sense, but then again, could you do it at the right price?”

VLAHOVIC PREMIER LEAGUE BOUND?

Despite spending big money on Darwin Nunez during the summer transfer window, there are surprise rumours emerging that Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are also targeting Vlahovic for January.

Despite Juventus’ troubles upstairs and Liverpool’s midfield issues, none of this would make sense, from the Reds willing to splash the cash on a forward when they have just purchased Nunez to needing to use that money to buy a few midfielders.

But, for those in north London, it makes perfect sense and it will be interesting just how far Arsenal push the boat out in January because this could make or break their season.
