Bernardo Silva has told Manchester City’s website that striker Gabriel Jesus deserves the best amid reports claiming that Arsenal are set to chance their arm and bid £35m for the Brazil international. His contract ends in 2023.
Jesus, 25, is expected to leave Manchester City this summer. Pep Guardiola often leaves the Brazilian out despite being the club’s only recognised first-team striker – and due to the reportedly imminent arrival of Erling Haaland.
Somewhat underrated, Jesus has still had a hand in 24 goals during 36 games this season – despite starting only 23 and completing 90 minutes just 13 times. He scored against Real Madrid in the week, his 12th of the season.
Football London report that Jesus – along with Roma and England star Tammy Abraham – are options this summer. Though Jesus would be a whole lot cheaper than Abraham, who is valued in the region of £68million.
The report states that Arsenal are expected to lodge a bid of £35million in an attempt to not only solve their striker issue – but reunite Jesus with Mikel Arteta. City teammate Silva raved about him, after beating Real Madrid.
“Gabriel Jesus is in fantastic shape. He scored four goals last weekend, one on Tuesday,” Silva said. “A great player. He deserves the best for the way he trains and plays for the team. He is one of our most important players.”

Sanchez Watt, an ex-Arsenal academy product, recently reacted to the reports on Twitter – describing it as a “smart move”. It is certainly that. Jesus has proven he is a prolific goalscorer at the top level.
He fits into Arsenal’s transfer blueprint – between the age of 20 and 25, but with plenty of experience. Only just 25, Jesus has already clocked up 337 games at senior level for club and country – 54 for Brazil.
He has 94 goals in his 231 Manchester City games. All of this, for £35million. Abraham is valued at double, and the likes of Dom Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak will cost more than £50million. Jesus is a no-brainer.
