CalcioMercato report that Roma striker Tammy Abraham wants to stay with Jose Mourinho’s side this summer – amid interest from Arsenal, and talks over a move to Tottenham. The striker has scored 24 goals this season.
Abraham, 24, joined Roma last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £34million from Chelsea – having failed to break into the Blues side on a regular basis. The signing of Romelu Lukaku also saw Abraham leave.
He has sparkled for Roma, scoring 15 goals in Serie A this season and 24 in all competitions. His future is a complex one. Chelsea have a buyback clause of £68million, while Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked.
The Star reports Arsenal are attempting to test Roma’s resolve this summer. The Sun say Abraham is a boyhood Arsenal fan, while another Athletic report says Jorge Mendes has spoken to Abraham over joining Spurs.
However, a report from CalcioMercato on Tuesday claims that Abraham’s stance is clear – he wants to remain at Roma this season, the club that have given him a chance at top level. He is the main man at Roma.
Abraham wants to stay: The best move as Arsenal, Tottenham lurk?
Arsenal desperately need a striker and Abraham fits the bill. He is young, English and boasts plenty of experience despite his age – much like some of their signings in Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale.
He would be enormously expensive, more so than a £35million move for Gabriel Jesus. But Abraham to Arsenal makes sense – if of course, he is tempted by the Gunners. Tottenham should only buy if Harry Kane goes.
But that looks unlikely with Manchester City the only club that seems like they could go in for him – and they are about to sign Erling Haaland. Staying at Roma, or going to Arsenal, are Abraham’s best moves this summer.
