On January deadline day, Tyrique George left Chelsea for Everton, joining on loan with an option to make the move permanent in the summer.
The forward spent over a decade coming up through Cobham, working his way up to the senior side after joining the academy as an Under-8.
His first team breakthrough came towards the end of 2024 under Enzo Maresca, who gave him his senior debut in the Conference League. He went on to score his first senior goal against Legia Warsaw and followed that up with a Premier League equaliser against Fulham which helped seal Champions League qualification for Chelsea.
He finished the 2024/25 campaign with both a Conference League medal and a FIFA Club World Cup medal added to his collection.
Consistent starts became unlikely for him, however, due to the arrivals of Alejandro Garnacho and Estevao Willian.
David Moyes comments on Tyrique George’s debut

George came off the bench in the 69th minute, joining former Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Speaking after the game, David Moyes gave his thoughts on the new signing’s performance (as per Everton).
“Yeah, Tyrique came on and did quite well. I’ve quite liked what I’ve seen in training. We’ve got to watch that we’re not bringing in somebody who might not be ready, but I thought he looked fine.
“He had a hand in the goal. So, yeah, I’m looking forward to [seeing more of him] because he’s looked good enough in training. He wants to score and we need people who want to score. That’s important to us.”
Unlikely Tyrique George returns to Chelsea
George made a strong impression in his Everton debut. While he did not start the match, he added some much-needed energy when he came on.
He finished with one shot, one successful dribble, connected on nine of 11 passes and made two recoveries.
But with Geovany Quenda and Emanuel Emegha both set to arrive in the summer, breaking into the Chelsea side will not get any easier for George.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s rise at Everton shows they are not shy about investing in former Blues players and giving them a platform to grow.
