It wasn’t so long ago that the mood around Tottenham Hotspur was all doom and gloom.
The latter months of the Mauricio Pochettino reign ended with a bitter taste and despite Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte being proven winners, they couldn’t win a trophy at Spurs and departed with everything on fire.
But it has been 12 months since Tottenham brought in Ange Postecoglou and it’s fair to say that he has lifted the dark clouds and made the fans as excited as ever.
The way Postecoglou handles the media and his all-action style of play has changed that, including improving certain individual players.
One man whose form has been indifferent under Postecoglou is Dejan Kulusevski after he scored eight Premier League goals and supplied three assists last season.
When Kulusevski first joined the club, initially on loan in 2022, before securing a £26 million transfer (London Evening Standard), he started like a house on fire, but he has been up and down since.
As a result, Darren Bent thinks Tottenham fans ‘don’t like him’, even though he appreciates the player, as he told talkSPORT.
Presenter Andy Goldstein agreed with the former striker by stating that he likes Kulusevski’s style of play, as he battles with Brennan Johnson for a starting spot.
Some think Johnson will never be a ‘top player’ at Tottenham, with Bent adding that this is the season he has to ‘go up a level’ ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur fans ‘don’t like’ Dejan Kulusevski
“I like Kulusevski,” said Bent. “But they (Tottenham fans) don’t, but I like him.”
Goldstein agreed: “So do I. A lot of people don’t (like him). I like the way he cuts in on his left peg. But it would be nice to have options because you have Brennan Johnson and Richarlison can also play out there.”
Bent added: “I think his second season, Brennan Johnson, he needs to go up a level.”

Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski link-up
Tottenham have secured the signing of Dominic Solanke and he is a player Kulusevski should very much look forward to working with.
Solanke praised Son Heung-min and James Maddison as soon as he signed for the London club, but he shouldn’t forget the Swedish star on the right.

Kulusevski’s delivery is better than Johnson’s and he puts in a lot more crosses than Son, so this could be an unlikely partnership that could blossom.
Saying that, Postecoglou has hinted that Kulusevski could play a new role at Tottenham ahead of the new campaign kicking off at the weekend.
