Arsenal and Chelsea enjoyed themselves in the Midlands over the weekend after picking up impressive wins in the Premier League.
Amid the off-field chaos, Chelsea put six goals past Wolves and thrashed Gary O’Neil’s side to quiet the noise outside of the pitch.
On Saturday, Arsenal secured a statement win at Aston Villa to start their Premier League title charge in the perfect fashion.
The man who scored the winning goal for the Gunners was Leandro Trossard after he came off the bench and practically scored with his first touch.
Arsenal signed Trossard during the January transfer window of 2023 when he arrived from Brighton and he has been an efficient player for the club.
But it could have been very different for the player because he wasn’t the main man the Gunners wanted or even the first player their manager Mikel Arteta wanted.
Mykhailo Mudryk was the man Arsenal wanted to sign, but Chelsea ran in, put a huge transfer fee on the table and secured his talents.
The 23-year-old started Chelsea’s win at Wolves on Sunday, but was hooked off at half-time by his manager Enzo Maresca.
Darren Bent spoke about Mudryk‘s troubles and how ‘it hasn’t worked for him at Chelsea’, with the club’s ‘chaotic’ nature not helping matters, as he told talkSPORT (26/08/24 at 6:55 pm).
The former striker thinks Mudryk would have been ‘better in the Arsenal shirt’ as you doubt if he will last long enough at Stamford Bridge if his poor run of form continues.
Mykhailo Mudryk at Arsenal
“I still think Mudryk would have looked, not better than Trossard, but better in the Arsenal shirt than Chelsea’s,” said Bent.
“It hasn’t worked for him at Chelsea. It’s a bit of a mess, at the minute. A bit chaotic. He doesn’t know what he is doing.
“But Trossard, since he has gone to Arsenal, he has scored important goals. He is different to Martinelli. Martinelli is the legs and sprinting in behind by using that pace, but Trossard drops into little pockets, really clever in what he does. Great finisher with both feet. Scores important goals as well.”

Leandro Trossard’s performances
You have to question what Trossard needs to do to start because he has been outstanding since he stepped foot in the club.
Perhaps Trossard’s celebration at Aston Villa was a sign that he is unhappy at not starting because he is outperforming the out-of-form Gabriel Martinelli.

Mudryk has scored six goals and supplied four assists from 60 matches in all competitions for Chelsea – but he has had several managers during that period.
In comparison, Trossard has scored 19 goals and supplied 12 assists from 70 matches in all competitions – but not every one of them has been as a starter.
