It’s been quite a week for transfer news at Arsenal, with reports circulating that the Gunners may sell Hector Bellerin an sign Tariq Lamptey.
Indeed, Bellerin reportedly wants to leave the Emirates this summer, and one man Edu has in his sights to replace the Spaniard is Lamptey.
The idea of Lamptey coming to Arsenal is incredibly exciting, he’s an attack-minded full-back with electric pace, and if he does join the London club, he would undoubtedly form one of the deadliest full-back pairings in England alongside Kieran Tierney.
We all know how important full-backs can be when building a quality team, just look at how good Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been for Liverpool in recent times, and Arsenal may be about to emulate that formula with their own pairing of a Scotsman and an Englishman.
We all know what Tierney is about, he’s energetic and he’s got a wand of a left-foot, and while he’s very similar to Andy Robertson, Lamptey is of a slightly different mould to Alexander-Arnold.

Indeed, rather than being an excellent passer or a world-class set-piece taker, Lamptey’s main attribute is his incredible speed and ridiculous dribbling ability.
Ashley Cole described him as ‘dangerous’ on Sky Sports back in September, and he’s not wrong.
The right-back is amongst the fastest players in the division, and the fact that he is fouled on average 2.5 times per game shows how hard it is for defences to deal with him.
Just imagine how intimidating Arsenal will be when attacking in wide areas if they have both Tierney and Lamptey attacking from deep with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the wings.
Lamptey and Tierney could quickly establish themselves as the deadliest full-back pairing in the country if Edu gets this deal over the line, and it’s one the Gunners should be looking at seriously.
