Crystal Palace have made a late, unsuccessful attempt to sign Arsenal and Newcastle target Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid.
What’s the story?
Well, the Spain Under-19 international has attracted plenty of attention this month, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Arsenal want to sign him.
Elsewhere, the Northern Echo believe Newcastle have held talks over a deal for Fresneda, who is rated at £13m.
Rather ambitiously given the level of interest in the Spaniard – even Borussia Dortmund are keen – Crystal Palace and Bournemouth both made late attempts to sign the right-back.
That was according to Matteo Moretto of Spanish news outlet Revelo.
The journalist wrote on Twitter: “In the last hours, Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have made an attempt for Iván Fresneda. Offers rejected by the player.”
So far this season, the 18-year-old wonderkid has made ten appearances in La Liga for Real Valladolid, while also making two Copa del Rey outings.
Crystal Palace showing ambition with attempt to sign Arsenal & Newcastle target
Patrick Vieira could certainly use a new right-back at Selhurst Park as Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne enter the twilight of their respective careers.
There are plenty of more realistic targets out there, but the south Londoners deserve praise for making a move for Fresneda despite the volume of top sides interested in the precocious teenager.

Despite being rejected by Fresneda, Vieira still looks set to bring two new faces to Selhurst Park today.
At the time of writing, a £10.6m deal has been agreed to sign Naouirou Ahamada from VfB Stuttgart, while Albert Sambi Lokonga is also having a medical ahead of a loan move from Arsenal.
Both pieces of news can be found in The Athletic‘s deadline day live blog.
Those two should give Vieira some much needed depth in his midfield department, and while a new right-back would be nice, the Eagles can be pleased with their deadline day business.
