As you may have heard, Chelsea are interested in signing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace ahead of the deadline.

Thomas Tuchel is also interested in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as an alternative options to the Ivory Coast international, although a rumour coming from Barcelona should be music to the ears of Crystal Palace supporters.

What’s the story?

Well, late last night, ESPN claimed that Barcelona are hoping to finalise the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea at some point today, so they can afford one more signing before the transfer window ends.

Most of the noises coming from Stamford Bridge and the Camp Nou suggest Chelsea will only sign one attacker, and it was said that interest in Zaha only came about as deals for either Aubameyang or Anthony Gordon hung in the balance.

Now, however, with Barcelona hopeful of sealing the sale of the Gabon international to Chelsea in the coming hours, that should put Crystal Palace fans at ease a bit.

It would be a nightmare for the Selhurst Park faithful to see their talisman depart with barely any time to replace him.

Zaha has started the season in red-hot form for the south Londoners, scoring three goals in three Premier League games as he showcases a ruthlessness in front of goal which we’ve come to expect under Patrick Vieira.

The 29-year-old scored 15 goals in all competitions last term, the best tally of his career, and he looks in the mood to go beyond that figure this season.

Barcelona could also upset Crystal Palace fans

While Barcelona are helping the Eagles keep their talisman by selling Aubameyang to Chelsea, the Spanish giants could also thwart one of Dougie Freedman’s transfer plans.

It has been said that Xavi is interested in bringing Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Catalonia as he aims to replace Sergino Dest at right-back, although Crystal Palace are also keen to re-sign their academy graduate.

As much as he loves Crystal Palace – the defender has admitted to supporting the club – it would be very difficult to turn down an offer from Barcelona, who can offer him Champions League football.

Wan-Bissaka wouldn’t even get that if he stayed at Manchester United, so keep an eye on that situation to see where the 24-year-old ends up ahead of the transfer deadline.
