Torino are now waiting to sell Gleison Bremer, amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, before the Serie A side begin negotiations with Roma to sign Marash Kumbulla.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report Il Toro have identified Kumbulla as a likely successor for Bremer in Turin. The Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino outfit have produced a shortlist of leading options who could replace the Brazilian, but have not started any talks.

Torino wish to wait until a deal is in place for Bremer before they advance any pursuits to replace the 25-year-old. Technical director Davide Vagnati is leading the charge to plug the anticipated gap in coach Ivan Juric’s backline, and is ready to meet his Roma counterparts.

Torino ready to replace Bremer with Kumbulla amid Arsenal, Tottenham interest

Vagnati intends to ask Roma to loan Kumbulla for the 2022/23 season with an optional buy clause for next year. It was a similar formula that took the Albanian to the Stadio Olimpico from Hellas Verona in 2020, having arrived in Rome in a multi-player loan-to-buy transfer.

Roma loaned Mert Cetin, Matteo Cancellieri and Aboudramane Diaby to Hellas Verona in return for Kumbulla’s temporary switch. All four later sealed permanent transfers at a net cost of €15.5m (£13m) to the Giallorossi, including a €2m (£1.5m) instalment for the loan.

Torino lining Kumbulla up to replace Bremer and waiting to sell the Brazilian will come as a boost for Arsenal and Tottenham, amid the north London rivals’ interest in the latter. But a transfer for Bremer could cost €50m (£42m), per 90min whilst citing both of their pursuits.

Arsenal and Tottenham held talks with Vagnati in late June over Mikel Arteta and Antonio Conte’s interest in Bremer. Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has also since added that the centre-half is still an option for Spurs, despite their deal for Clement Lenglet of Barcelona.
