Speaking on The Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel, Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel has been discussing Tottenham’s defensive reshuffle and Gleison Bremer.

It looks as though Tottenham will be signing Clement Lenglet to bolster their defence this summer, but according to Mokbel, the Frenchman may not be the only centre-back joining the club in the coming weeks.

Indeed, the journalist says that he gets the impression that Antonio Conte wants to add another centre-back who can slot straight into the team who is better than what Spurs already have, and he is led to believe that the links to Bremer are substantial.

What’s been said?

Mokbel spoke about Bremer and Tottenham’s search for a new defender.

“I think Bremer definitely has legs to it, once Lenglet is over the line the pressure is off a little, but I get the impression that Conte wants a centre-back who can go straight into the team and will unquestionably strengthen his defence, whereas Lenglet, there isn’t that guarantee that he’s better than what is already in the building,” Mokbel said.

Incredible backline

All the signs are pointing towards Tottenham having an absolutely incredible backline next season.

Spurs already have Cristian Romero, Ben Davies and Eric Dier, and the additions of Clement Lenglet and Bremer would give Spurs a fantastic amount of quality and depth.

Of course, that would rely on Spurs getting Bremer through the door, and with Inter Milan interested, this may not be a straightforward deal to conclude.

This is certainly a situation worth keeping an eye on.
