Manchester United now expect Jesse Lingard will leave the club at the end of his contract in June, amid transfer interest from Newcastle and West Ham, according to the Express.
Ralf Rangnick’s arrival as interim boss to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had encouraged Lingard. The England midfielder rarely played under the former Red Devils’ boss this term, so saw the club’s decision to change manager as an opportunity to enjoy a fresh start.
However, Lingard has so far remained a backup option at Manchester United in Rangnick’s first games in charge. The 29-year-old is yet to play a minute in the Premier League, while starting their dead-rubber Champions League draw with BSC Young Boys in a changed XI.

Lingard leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season would sadden some club figures who have overseen his rise. He graduated from the Red Devils’ academy under Louis van Gaal in 2014, and has since amassed 222 first-team appearances.
Manchester United expect Lingard to leave on free transfer
But of Lingard’s Manchester United appearances, he has only made 12 this season and has started just two. His opening roles also came in the Carabao Cup before facing Young Boys.
Manchester United now expect Lingard will leave Old Trafford on a free transfer at the end of his contract. He can begin to negotiate pre-contracts with foreign sides from next month and also has a wealth of domestic suitors.

Newcastle and West Ham eye Lingard transfers
Among Lingard’s domestic options for a transfer away from Manchester United include Newcastle and West Ham. Eurosport report the Irons even believe Lingard could return to the London Stadium next year following his productive loan spell.
However, Ian McGarry has claimed Newcastle will offer Lingard a £200k-a-week contract to win the race for his transfer. The offer would double his £100k-a-week Old Trafford salary.
Lingard was magnificent at West Ham during his loan transfer from Manchester United last season. He struck nine goals and five assists in 16 Premier League games, helping the Irons qualify for the Europa League.
