Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that old footage of Leeds United players’ song of Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, is ‘classless’ ahead of their final day Premier League relegation battle.

The former striker told talkSPORT that Leeds, who are battling Burnley for relegation, now have a tougher game on their hands as a result.

Leeds travel to Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season knowing they have to get a result – and Newcastle have to do them a favour at Burnley – in order to survive.

But, old footage of Leeds celebrating their promotion back in 2020, when they beat Brentford to the automatic places, has emerged.

The Leeds players uttered the words ‘mind the gap, mind the gap, Thomas Frank’, as they piped them to promotion in 2020 – and he has spoken about it ahead of today’s game.

Agbonlahor namedropped how players like Ivan Toney will remind his teammates about that song, even though he wasn’t at the club then.

“I think Brentford against Leeds is going to be tough for Leeds, anyway,” said Agbonlahor.

“But recently, there was a tweet that resurfaced from 2020 of Leeds United players singing a song about Thomas Frank.

“They got promoted Leeds and you are singing a song about a Brentford manager. If Ivan Toney shows the players that, it’s going to pump you up for the game and wanting to win the game more.

“Leeds had it hard to win at Brentford. It’s going to be harder now because it is classless.”

OLD THOMAS FRANK FOOTAGE COULD KICK LEEDS IN THE TEETH

For the fans to sing such a song is standard, but for the players to do so is pretty stupid and unprofessional.

But, at the end of the day, you make your own bed and those Leeds players now have to lie down in it.

The home fans, the Brentford players, who are also searching for a Premier League top ten finish, are going to be well up for it.

And, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the home fans ironically sing ‘mind the gap, mind the gap, Thomas Frank’ during the game or even ‘mind the gap, mind the gap, Leeds United’.
